Friday brought us high winds in Madera... so bad that a local church's mural was ripped off the wall and half the trees in the park fell over!
The Farm was basically engulfed in a sandstorm part of the day. The animals did not appreciate that and we farmers were stuck inside.
I figured it was a good time for some recipe trials..... Lavender season is in full swing, with bees buzzing happily in the purple hedges and the rising heat intensifying its fragrance. So, to celebrate the partnership of bees, lavender, and oncoming summer, I give you:
Organic Lavender Lemonade with Honey
1 cup raw honey
5 cups water
1/4 cup fresh, organic lavender buds
6 organic lemons, peeled and juiced
Lavender sprigs for garnish
1. Pour 1/2 the water in a pan, bring to boil and remove from heat
2. Add honey and dried lavender let steep for approximately 20 minutes.
3. Strain mixture and pour into larger container.
4. Add lemon juice and the remaining water. Stir well. Cool and enjoy.

You could also make this with stevia, for a diabetic-friendly and low calorie drink! Just exchange the 1 cup honey for 3 Tbsp. organic stevia leaves.
